Course Description:
CRM 435:
Supervised Field Studies in Criminal Justice is considered the capstone
course in a student’s undergraduate education in Criminology. This course is
designed to provide students with the opportunity to apply their classroom
knowledge and to gain relevant experience in the field. Through this
experience, students will develop professional relationships with criminal
justice agencies, which will serve as the building blocks for a successful
career in the criminal justice field.

Course Requirements:
Students are
required to complete 130 unpaid hours in a criminal justice agency.
They also are required to attend 15 hours of classes, complete written
assignments, maintain a journal, and complete an evaluation of their
internship experience. Students earn 3 credits toward their degree upon
satisfactory completion of the course requirements.

Prerequisites:
Students are eligible
for an internship if they:

are
in good academic standing (GPA of 2.0 or better)
-
will have earned 86 credits by the time of their placement
-
have successfully completed CRM 300(337) and CRM 322(222) with a C- or
better
-
have taken a minimum of 24 credits in the major
-
or
receive special permission from the Internship Directors.
