Department Announcements

 Congratulations to our all of our 2009 Graduates!

Rachel Tirnady and Kimberly Bender have accepted one year faculty positions for the 2008-2009 academic year.
Congratulations to Dr. Damon Mitchell and Professor Kathleen Bantley on being promoted to associate professors and receiving tenure.
Kathleen Mayer has been hired by the department for the position of academic advisor.
Dr. Stephen Costanza has been selected as the new faculty advisor to the Criminal Justice Club.

Faculty/Student News

Graduate student Lyndsay Ruffolo presented a paper at the BJS/JRSA National meeting in October, 2008.
Dr. Stephen Cox and Professor Kathleen Bantley co-authored a manuscript published in Justice Research and Policy.
Dr. Damon Mitchell and Dr. Stephen Cox co-authored a manuscript published in the Journal of Addictive Diseases.
Dr. Reginald Simmons co-authored a manuscript published in Journal of Psychoactive Drugs.
 

 

Mission Statement

The Department prepares students for further academic study and many different careers.  Students in the Department will acquire substantive bases of knowledge and the analytical, communication, and research skills necessary to become professionals in criminal justice, public policy, government, and other public and private enterprises.  Students will obtain the requisite knowledge and skills through assignments and work that entail written communication (such as papers, articles, books, and original data collections and interpretation); oral presentations; class discussion, debate, and group work.
